Three first half goals was all Nigeria needed to edge out pre-tournament favourite Brazil and qualify for the semi-final of the Fifa 2015 Under-17 World Cup.

The Eaglets started the game tentatively as Brazil went on the offensive carving up chances in the first five minutes of the game.

Leandro and Lincoln had a go at the Nigerian goal but Udoh Akpan stood tall and prevent the Young Selecao from scoring.

Nigeria gradually settled into the game after weathering the Brazilian storm and took the lead in the 29th minute of the game through Victor Osimhen.

The tall striker met a Lazarus cross with a firm header that beat Brazil goalkeeper Juliano for the first goal of the game as the Eaglets went rampant.

Kingsley Michael made a 2-0 for Nigeria after bulldozing his way into the Brazil box and squaring the ball for Michael who had to dip to connect the ball into the grass and over Juliano to put the Eaglets in the drivers’ seat.

There was no coming back for Brazil at that point as Nigeria grew in confidence and were compact in defence.

Udochukwu Anumudu’s long range shot in the 34th minute squirmed under Juliano the Eaglets completed a six minute blitz of goals and a 3-0 scoreline before half-time.

The second half had both teams creating numerous chances but none could come up with more goals as Nigeria zoomed in into the semi-finals.

The Eaglets will meet the winner of the semi-final between Ecuador and Mexico when the last four ties takes place on Thursday.
